Trying Windows 8.1? Back up your files!
New software releases, betas, and trial versions are always a risk. Combine that with a new Windows release and it may spell trouble. In fact, websites are already warning those upgrading to Windows 8.1 to take good backups of your data because one wrong step could result in a complete system wipe.
We’ve discussed many possible ways to make backups, and will continue to in the future. For an operating system installation, it’s okay to just put your files on a local backup drive. Once you have your files properly backed up, there’s nothing to worry about. You can install a new operating system and if something goes wrong, you can try it again! But always be careful and make certain you backed up all the data you will want in the future.
